Who builds Zorrilla & Baquero's designs in the Dominican Republic?

ACCOM. We built Tortuga Bay H2, a 750 m² private residence at Punta Cana Resort designed by the Mexico City studio Zorrilla & Baquero, at a project value of $2.3M - built by ACCOM, construction and project management, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

The collaboration

Caribbean vernacular, modern methodology.

The architectural brief called for a contemporary reading of Caribbean colonial vernacular - symmetrical façades, deep shaded verandas, and traditional proportions resolved with a modern construction methodology.

Traditional proportions executed with modern methodology means the masonry, carpentry, and detailing had to satisfy both the drawing and the climate. That translation, between an international studio's intent and a Dominican site, is the work ACCOM does.

Built together.

How does ACCOM work with international architects in the Dominican Republic?

ACCOM is the builder of record on architect-led projects: we price the design, resolve it into local engineering and permits, buy through a supply chain built in Punta Cana since 2006, and deliver against a published schedule, with hurricane-rated structure as the baseline. We prefer to join at feasibility, before groundbreaking, and we work comfortably alongside owners' representatives.
